Troubleshoot users and authentication
Note the time, the site, and what went wrong. Never attach a password, session value, or token.
| Symptom | Evidence → action → recovery |
|---|---|
| Organization/site access is missing | Confirm membership and selected sites, correct them in organization members, then verify the site user. |
| Role or app access is wrong | Record username/role/app, re-read access in assign user access, then correct the Site Role or retry the assignment. |
| Attribute or mapping is absent | Confirm schema validation in user attributes, then test and correct the mapping in referenced user attributes. |
| Preferences did not persist | Re-read the current user settings in user preferences, correct the rejected value, and retry with an authenticated credential. |
| Hosted entry fails | Check security.signup-enabled, invitation details, and retry outcome in hosted sign-in. |
| Token action fails | Verify token name, owner, expiry, and runtime HTTP 200/declared 204 outcome in API tokens, then create/store/test a replacement before revoking the old token. |
| OIDC sign-in or deletion fails | Correct provider fields or handle connected users in OpenID Connect SSO, then retest. |
